How It Works

Temporarily plugging a pressurized pipe with the HSF 250 Line Stop Fitting and Hydra-Stopper Line Stop Machine starts with a single circular hole — commonly known as a “tap” — cut into the top of the pipe without the need to ream or sever the pipe. After the work is completed, simply remove the line stop machine and attach a completion plug.

FAQ

What are the available nominal sizes of the HSF 250 line stop fitting?

The HSF 250 line stop fitting is currently available in 4″to 12″ nominal sizes.

What if the bore of my temporary gate valve is not 8.5″ or 12.5″?

Contact your Hydra-Stop inside sales representative or regional sales manager for additional information.

Is my equipment compatible with the HSF 250 line stop fitting?

Yes, your equipment is compatible with the HSF 250 line stop fitting, provided that your 8″ temporary gate valve has an 8.5″ bore, and your 12″ temporary gate valve has a bore of no less than 12.5″. All Hydra-Stop temporary gate valves manufactured in the year 2000 and later, or sent to Hydra-Stop to be bored for Insta-Valve insertion valve installation, have an 8.5″ bore. The 12″temporary gate valve must have a bore no less than 12.5″. Please contact your Hydra-Stop inside sales representative or regional sales manager for additional information regarding the compatibility of your temporary gate valves.

Why did Hydra-Stop change the completion plug?

Push-and-pin style completion plugs simplify the completion procedure by eliminating the possibility of a cross-threaded completion plug and the need to perform a “dry run.” Additional benefits of using a push-and-pin style completion plug include: reduced installation time, simplified re-stopping, and standard size completion plugs (4″ to 8″ fittings share a common size completion plug; 10″ and 12″ fittings also share a common size completion plug).

Why did Hydra-Stop change the design of the Hydra-Stop Fitting?

We changed the design of the Hydra-Stop Fitting because our customers asked for additional features and functionality. Our products now feature 250 psi working pressure, reduced installation and completion time, 100 percent stainless steel construction and improved delivery, plus they are made in the USA.
