Holly Springs, NC — The Town of Holly Springs, NC, discovered a leak from a 12-inch transmission line when water came up out of a valve box in the middle of a road in a residential neighborhood. After further investigation, they found the leak came from a tapping sleeve on the transmission line. The leak on the sleeve was at the weld between the flange and the saddle.
Unfortunately, the closest valves to isolate the leak were about two thousand feet apart. Utilizing these valves for isolation would create a water service outage to over 40 residences—nearly the entire residential area. To read their full story, download the project brief.
