Burr Ridge, IL— February 6, 2020 — The United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) waiver for short-term stainless steel nuts and bolts used in pipe couplings, restraints, joints, flanges, and saddles for American Iron and Steel Act (AIS) compliance expires February 24. This action impacts all manufacturers subject to American Iron and Steel Act provisions for state revolving funds projects.

What This Means for You and Your AIS-Compliant Projects
You have until February 23, 2020 to purchase a Hydra-Stop solution with non-domestic hardware to be honored as AIS compliant. Proof-of-purchase will be required for compliancy and it must be dated prior to February 24, 2020. According to the EPA, the product does not need to on-site or paid for by this date, it simply must be ordered then.
Starting February 24, 2020, you must purchase domestic hardware for your Hydra-Stop solution in order to be AIS compliant.
