 How does the IV 250 Patriot Series seal?
The IV 250 cartridge seal is designed to seal on an engineered surfuace within the body of the valve. The design optimizes the sealing characteristics providing the best performance and reliability of any valve insertion technology available today.

 Is the IV 250 Patriot Series easily installed?
Yes, The IVP 250 Patriot Series can be installed in as little as one hour. Simply mount the Insta-Valve Plus fitting, make a tap with your Hydra-Tapper™, and install your Insta-Valve Plus valve cartridge.

 How many excavations are required to install an IV 250?
Only one small excavation is needed to install IV 250, requiring an excavation size as little 5’ x 5’.

 Does it take a lot of hand tools to install an IV 250?
No, the only hand tools needed to install an IV 250 are two open end wrenches and two allen wrenches.

 Can the IV 250 be installed off center?
Yes, the IV 250 can be installed in any position on the pipe.

 Can the IV 250 cartridge be replaced?
Yes, by reversing the installation process you can simply install a new IV 250 valve cartridge if needed.

 Is the IV 250 a permanent valve?
Yes, the IV 250 is a permanent valve and has been designed to provide years of trouble free operation.

 Does the IV 250 work on all common types of pipe?
Yes, Insta Valve Plus can be installed on all types of common pipes.

 What is the working pressure of the IV 250? 
The IV 250 is rated at a maximum working pressure of 250 psi.

 Can my IV 250 equipment only be used for valve insertion?
IV 250 equipment is completely modular and expandable. Adding to your existing IV 250 equipment with Hydra-Stop Expansion Kits will give you the option of side tapping, line stopping, or both.

 How does the IV 250 Patriot Series seal?
The EPDM gate paddle is compressed, allowing for expansion of the rubber to seal on the inside diameter of the pipe. The gate seal seals onto the gate housing, lower gate housing o-ring and valve body to complete the seal.

Is the IVP 250 simple to install?
Yes, IVP 250 can be installed in as little as three to four hours. Install the valve body, make a line tap, and install the gate.

Can the IVP 250 gate be replaced?
Yes, by reversing the installation process you can simply install a new IVP gate if needed.

Does the IVP 250 work on all common types of pipe?
Yes, IVP 250 can be installed on all common types of pipes.

 What if my application requires me to use a valve that needs to meet AWWA C-509-01 or C-515-01 standards?
AWWA does not have a standard for insertion valves. If your application requires you to use a valve that meets AWWA C-509 or AWWA C-515 you can simply use a line stop to cut-in the AWWA approved valve of your choice. The IVP250 is the functional equivalent of an AWWA standard gate valve.

In which sizes is the IVP 250 available?
Currently IVP 250 is available in 16”. Additional sizes will be available in the future. Sizes 10”, 12” & 14” in the IV 250 product line are currently being developed.

Why did Hydra-Stop change the design of the Hydra-Stop Fitting?

Why did Hydra-Stop change the completion plug?

Push and Pin style completion plugs simplify the completion procedure by eliminating the possibility of a cross-threaded completion plug and the need to perform a “dry run”. Additional benefits of using a Push and Pin style completion plug include:

Is my equipment compatible with the HSF 250 and HSF 250 Patriot Series line stop fitting?

Yes, your equipment is compatible with the HSF 250 and HSF 250 Patriot Series line stop fitting provided your temporary gate valve has an 8.5” bore.  All Hydra-Stop temporary gate valves manufactured in the year 2000 and later or sent to Hydra-Stop to be bored for Insta-Valve Plus insertion valve installation have an 8.5” bore.

What if the bore of my temporary gate valve is not 8.5”?

You will need to send your temporary gate valve to Hydra-Stop to be bored for a minimal charge. Please contact your Hydra-Stop Inside Sales Representative or Regional Sales Manager for additional information.

What are the available nominal sizes of the HSF 250 and HSF 250 Patriot Series line stop fitting?

The HSF 250 and HSF 250 Patriot Series line stop fitting is currently available in 4”, 6” and 8” nominal sizes. 10” and 12” nominal sizes will be available in Q3 of 2015.  

What is tapping?

Tapping can be defined as the cutting of a hole in an existing water or sewer main. Tapping can also be done on pieplines that carry other fluids. A tapping machine (like the Hydra-Tapper) is used to cut a hole into a pipe of various materials - such as cast iron, concrete, pvc and others. After the tap is complete a linestop can be implemented or a branch line added.

What size pipes can the Hydra-Tapper tap?
Hydra-Stop manufactures tapping machines that can perform pressure taps thru 20”

What applications call for line stopping?

The following list are just some of the uses for line stopping in your overall maintenance program:
• Replacing or repairing hydrants
• Tying in new lines or services
• Performing pipeline maintenance and repairs
• Changing large meters or backflow preventers
• Abandoning wells or storage

What are the different methods of line stopping?
Single Line Stop - Flow from one direction, for example, installing a hydrant valve.

Double Line Stop - Water pressure from two sides - looped wall circuit. (EXAMPLE: Damaged pipe section replaced or main valve installed; bypass option available)

Double Line Stop with bypass option - Whether it is 5 feet or 5 miles, you can permanently relocate a line or cut in a valve on a transmission line or service line without customer disruption.
